IMVHO:
всё-таки слака удобнее — пакетная система дебиана это просто комплекс противоречий: одновременно два крайне неудобных принципа —
1)Один_файл=Один_пакет;
2)Все_пакеты=Один_метапакет;
в случае отсутствия совта приходиться вручную разрешать зависимости(как и в слаке — только там читается не выхлоп apt а README.TXT) и устанавливать dev/фронтенд пакеты, но, в отличие от слаки, не надо бороться с системой .
Все что будет удалятся бутет писаться в выхлоп.
Если сударь не может отличить пакет от метапакета, вины дебиана тут я не вижу. Второй пункт такой поток сознания что я не осилил.

Так во всех пакетных менеджерах. Метапакет — это просто удобный способ установки и удаления большого числа связанных пакетов, вроде DE. Если бы ты поставил весь гном вручную, без метапакетов, то и при удалении не возникло бы такой ситуации. Даже в арче точно так же.

А сделал бы просто remove — было б все хорошо. Правда, apt потом бы все равно предложил все удалить 🙂

Вот не надо говорить за всех. В Арче для этого используются группы пакетов. Додуматься до такого идиотизма, как в дебиане, там не осилили.
Removing Transmission Bit torrent client
Simply want to remove this client, don’t really like it. Can’t figure out what packages it’s installed as, tried both transmission and transmission-daemon, the first not being anything and the second states it’s not installed.
Running ubuntu 13.04, all updated.
Just don’t like having programs I don’t use/want to use deluge.

The package name is transmission-gtk, so:
Try this. It should work.
To remove everything to do with transmission, use:
This will remove every package with the word transmission followed by any number of letters.
Press Ctrl + Alt + T and then type in :
sudo apt-get remove transmission-gtk
This will remove the transmission bittorent client. After this process has completed, you type in the open terminal «
sudo apt-get autoremove
This command will remove all the dependencies associated with the app you would’ve just removed, as well as some other unwanted dependencies and files related to uninstalled app. This will keep your system clean and running smoothly and avoid resource wastage.
