Which program should I be using to flash a GIGADEVICE GD25B127DSIG (25B127) chip?
This is the BIOS in my CyberpowerPC Gaming laptop (I7, RTX2070) which is a barebones Quanta NL5E with both CPU & GPU soldered on.
I have downloaded the CH341A programmers versions 1.18, 1.34, 1.38 — but none of these have the 25B127 in the chip selection list.
Any help much appreciated.

I have tried various chips from the GIGADEVICE list then ‘detect’ but just get not recognised with ‘FF’ in the chip details.
The programs do not have any GD25B128Cxxx in the support list;
v1.18 = 25Qxxx / 25Fxxx / 25Dxxx / 25Txxx (I tried GD25Q128 but did not work)
v1.34 = 25Dxxx / 25Qxxx / 25Fxxx / 25LQxxx / 25Txxx
v1.38 = 25Dxxx / 25LQxxx / 25WDxxx / 25WQxxx / 25VQxxx / 25Qxxx
I tried an old desktop motherboard and all the programs recognised and read the Winbond chip on it. So the CH341 & clip seems to be ok.

Downgrading the BIOS version is not recommended.
-Do back up your old bios file before upgrading BIOS to prevent any inconvenience.
-The operation interface might be different for different models and/or versions.

I posted this on the notebookreview forum as well, but figured the Reddit would have a different group of people reading.
I was hoping someone could confirm I have the correct chip before I make my 2021 a brick.
First, the BIOS Chip is a a GD, not a Winbond — I have read in the chip, but the chip on the motherboard is a 25B127DSIG — and the autodetect in asprogrammer showed three IC's so I selected the GD25Q128C. But asprogrammer has two GD25Q128 — GD25Q128B and GD25Q128C. I read in both just in case, but before writing back a modified BIOS, I thought it would be safer to confirm here first.
And out of curiosity, if I read the BIOS in using afuwin, its 12MB, but the GD25Q128 are larger, they read in as 16MB (and the Datasheet for the 25B127DSIG also says 16MB) — so, Im not sure if this is due to the limits of afuwin and the BIOS on the motherboard?

- Материнская плата
- Процессор
- Оперативная память
- Жёсткий диск
- Видеокарта
- Звуковая карта
- DVD-привод
- Внешние устройства

Большинство мастеров знают, что БИОС-ы cовременных компютеров производят самотестирование при включениии. Обнаруженные ошибки сигнализируют звуковым сигналом и через внутреннюю программу POST (англ. Power-On Self-Test) — самотестирование при включении.
Как перепрошить BIOS?
Существует три основных способа обновления БИОС материнской платы:
- внутренним ПО самого БИОС-а
- специальной утилитой из DOS или Windows
- прошить чип БИОС-а программатором
